Isn't that quote the cutest? Childhood is awesome. I hope someday to give my kids a wonderful childhood. I dream of helping them make their dreams a reality. I dream of watching my aspiring ballerina practice her piques or disciplining (with a smile) my wanna-be-quarterback for throwing his football right at my favorite vase. Childhood is sweet. For me, it was full of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, disney movies, and swimming 10 hours a day in our chlorine pool until my blonde hair turned bright green. very true story, by the way. Mothers are always wishing for their children to stay little.
Adults are always wishing to be a kid again.
Wishing for nap times, crayons, and a lightning fast metabolism.
It's true. There's things I miss about childhood too. I miss when my school supply list consisted of markers and glue sticks. I miss watching Disney movies daily. I miss when my biggest goals were to get picked first for kickball and get 100% on my spelling tests.
BUT, there's a lot of things I don't miss. I don't miss people walking over me. I remember one time distinctly. I was at a grocery store in line and this big, scary man with a big bag of dog food stepped right in front of me. rude. It still makes me mad to think about. Don't underestimate the power of a child. They may not have years of experience under their belts, but their potential is huge! The person they are at 5 is the same person they are at 50. Granted, people change- but the spirit is the same. I don't miss being a kid. I like being a grown up much better. I like that people take me [somewhat] seriously. When you're little, there's only one "right" personality to be. You know what I mean. Everyone else gets made fun of. Luckily for me, I was never really made fun of. But I remember feeling so out of place and not accepted. I felt so horrible about myself. What an awesome feeling it is to know now that I am surrounded by people who love and care for me. I've grown into confidence. I feel like I belong. It's an awesome feeling. I wouldn't change it for PB&J sandwiches any day!
