It's tough.

Disclaimer: I'm always a bit hesitant to share things that are personal to me. I don't share this for any pity. Knowing that it will help someone else it what makes it worth it and is why I do it. While you read this don't think about me and what's going on with me, think about how you can apply it to you and how it can help you. Seriously. Please.

Life is tough.
There's an insane infinite amount of things that can go wrong and do go wrong.
Abuse. Sickness. Death. Betrayal. Denial. Failure. Depression. Struggle. Fatigue. Pain. Rejection.
But in the midst of no matter what is going on in life, you're supposed to be happy.
Say, WHAT.
It's amazing to me how to carry on with life through not just storms, but hurricanes.
It's not like you can call in sick to work because you had a fight with your sister or are feeling inadequate.
You can't tell your teacher you can't take your test or write your paper because your husband cheated on you or you suffer from something no doctor can diagnose and it's so painful you can't get out of bed.
People have problems.
Sometimes I look at people and wonder what kind of secrets and struggles are hinding behind those eyes.
No matter what happens we have to just carry on with life. Not that I'm saying that we should be allowed to crawl into a dark hole and be depressed about some misfortune that happened to us. Not at all. I fully believe life is meant to be lived. But sometimes when the weight of life gets really heavy on your shoulders, I just wish we could push pause. That time would stop. And we could just breathe without the stress of those seconds going by and everything we need to do within that time. Even if it was for just ten minutes.

BUT.
Life doesn't work like that. Unfortunately.
There are things to help us through the hard times, though.
One that helped me today was a sincere compliment.

I met with my therapist today as I occasionally have been doing for almost a year now. As the floodgates opened (tears, people!) and I poured out so many things that have been weighing me down, she was quiet and listened. And then she said,
"You're going to make it, you know. And not through the next few days or the next few weeks or months or even years. But I mean make it in the long run where it counts. You're going to make it to Heaven and I am going to cheer so loud for you when you do!"

Of course my eyes filled with tears. Then she asked me to do something I think all of you should do when you're having a hard time. You ask yourself what Heavenly Father would do if he were in the room. Right. now. Poof. He's sitting next to you. What would he say to you? Would be hug you? Would he tell you how much he loves you? Would he give you advice or just tell you how special you are to him?
I don't know you all personally, but I know that God does and I know that He loves you.

I know Heavenly Father loves us too. And he sends us people to discuss our concerns, struggles, and triumphs with who can help make the good times better and the bad times bearable...and share little pieces of insight like she shared with you and you just shared with me.

This is so sweet and such a good thing to think about. Sometimes I do do this.. at night, when I am upset and all alone in my little apartment, I imagine He is in the room with me, telling me it is Okay. and it works!
<3 you!

If we could always remember that HE loves us... Life is hard, period. The only thing we can do is choose to use those hardships to make us BETTER. Hang in there Alexis. It sounds like you are trying your best (and that's what counts)aside from meeting with a great therapist.

you always have the most genuine posts, Alexis! I think it's important for bloggers to focus on not just the good times but the bad as well and how we get through through those times. Cause we all go through them and it helps to know you're not alone. Such sweet thoughts here!
