Frames can't catch you when you're moving like that.

That's one of my favorite lines in Jack Johnson's Inaudible Melodies.

Clint and I talked about this last night. We talked about remembering to be happy now. Sure, it's fun for us to think about a future with a house and kids and vacations and yes, maybe even a washer and dryer that work or a sink that doesn't sound like an airplane is landing when you turn it on. We talked about how in the future we'll probably think about our wonderful lives right now and want to go back to what we have now. There's a lot to be happy about now.

My husband and I had this conversation the other day. We were being stressed about money and then were thinking about how everyone says that when you have kids and real jobs and stuff you always look back at being newlyweds and think of it as the "good times" so we figured we'd better make it the good times so that we see it that way! Haha. Newlywed life really is wonderful!

This has been my goal right now. :) I am constantly telling myself "don't wish this time away, I won't get it back". It's helped a lot. I find myself enjoying even the things that... aren't so enjoyable.

this is inspiring.

You are right, there's a lot to be happy about right now.

It's hard to remember that when all our friends are having babies and are already graduated with good jobs. I have to keep reminding myself to live up the time right now-- and that we'll be at that point someday too!

Love that song! And this post. It's so true. It is so hard to not just look ahead and think "Won't it be great when..." when we have a new car, when we're both out of school, when he has a new job, when we buy a house, when we have kids, and on and on! But I know that things are actually really GREAT right now and I am trying to enjoy that. It will never be just me and him again after we have our first one (whenever that is) and we gotta soak up all the "us time" right now before it's gone!

This is so true and reminds me of the song by Trace Adkins "Your gonna miss this" or something to the effect. Makes me cry whenever I hear it- life really does go fast!

i like this thought a lot. being happy right now is sometimes hard to remember and so easy to take for granted.

I totally agree with this! My mom is always saying, "Don't wish time away!" She's right!

Scott and I were planning a fabulous little trip for our one year anniversary/my graduation, and then came to our senses and realized it's probably not the best use of money. I was devastated. Actually, writing this is making me a little sad again. But this is a good reminder. I still have so many reasons to be happy!

its like that country song says, "you're gonna miss this...you're gonna want this back, you're gonna wish those didn't go by so fast"

i always try to remind myself of that. i think it's a big test of this life.. for me at least, to learn to be happy in the 'now' and not dreaming for the next step. I was always my mom's "april child dreaming of June" :]

so true. there will always be something to look forward to, but if you don't start appreciating what you have now, you won't appreciate what you're dreaming about when you finally have it.

but ps. you probably won't miss the laundromat :)

I totally know what you mean. TJ and I love dreaming about and planning our future, but we realize that we're lucky to have what we have now, and to be where we are. It's all about living in the moment.

SO true! Eric and I always talk about the future (which is normal I'm sure) but sometimes I have to remind myself to happy with what I have NOW. That I'll want to look back on our lives and not regret enjoying each moment a little more.

I love this song! It's such a good way to look at life!

It's so true! I always love your advice. We have a hard time also dealing with the 'joys' of being poor newlyweds. But these are the times we'll look back on with such happiness later :) These are the best years!
