Sorry I didn't get the blog updated yesterday with your buttons. They should be all up to date now.
I took a personal day from work.
That's a big deal, considering I don't even take a day off work when I'm coughing my lungs out.
I called Clint and he came home a little early.
I cried in his lap for a little bit.
Then we got up and got going.
I always set a limit on how long I can be sad about something.
Example: Okay, you can be sad [insert time: tonight], but tomorrow you're going to be happy and optimistic, and do your best to not think about it too much.
It works for me.
Taking the night off yesterday was honestly the best thing I could have done for myself. Today I feel rejuvinated. It's really important to take time to take care of ourselves. I'm just now learning that.
Last night with my day off, I made garlic mashed potatoes for dinner, which is my ultimate comfort food. Then I made the most delicious cookies I swear I've ever tasted in my life. Peanut butter cup cookies. My mouth is watering just thinking of them. Too bad the two of us already finished those 12 cookies in 24 hours. Did I just admit that? They were small cookies.
Then we watched this:
It's one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. And no, I didn't pick it on purpose because I wasn't having the best day. I didn't even know what it was about. But it was good. It was about a young suicidal boy who checks himself into a psychiatric ward of a hospital. He deals with depression, like so many others in this world. I had two friends attempt suicide in high school. I remember visiting them in this sad place. But don't worry, it's not a depressing movie. It will leave you remembering all the things you love about life. So, watch it. Thank me later.
Moral of the story:
(1) sometimes taking care of yourself means taking a night off work and eating a ridiculous amount of cookies with your favorite person in the world. If you don't believe me, try it.
(2) I have the best, sweetest, most handsome husband in the whole world.
point in case ;)
p.s. if you didn't read my latest post, scroll down! I'm offering free sponsorship to anyone [unless maybe you're crazy and blog about abusing monkeys or nasty things to do with earwax] who wants it!
