You can't do everything.

Of course, you already knew that.
Because you're smarter than me.
At the ripe age of 21, I am just now learning this.

What do cars have to do with that?
My awesome brother was helping me pick up some things for the reception with his truck. As we were stopped at a light, we saw a semi truck coming off the freeway. He was slow, as they always are. The cars were not happy with him. I told Lane, "Man. It would stink to be a semi-truck driver. Everyone hates you. No one wants to be behind you. Everyone loves to cut you off. You go 0 to 60 in about 10 minutes."
Then it got me thinking. We hate semis, but they're essential. Most hate to be on the road with them, but I doubt they'd like to drive across the country/state/whatever to pick up whatever items the truck would normally be transporting to them. Then I started thinking about all the different kinds of car "personalities" or "talents". Know what I realized? It really does take all kinds.
Some people think sports cars are the best.
Some people prefer trucks or jeeps.
Some people like small cars.
Others like SUVs.
No matter how hard it might try, a sports car will never be able to tow a motor home.
A truck will never be able to hold a full grown family of 8.
A truck can't get 35MPGs
A Honda accord can't go romping through the mountains.
Why?
Not because there is anything wrong with each of those different kinds of vehicles, but because it's not what they were designed to do
Yeah, you're catching onto what I'm throwing down. People are the same. We can't do everything just like there isn't one car that can tow, get 35mpg, hold 8 people, go 0 to 60 in 6 seconds, and romp through the mountains. I need to focus on what I can do and be grateful for it.  I have a hard time knowing my capacity. I just think I can do everything and nothing at the same time. It makes no sense.  It's both good and bad. I don't place limits on myself, but then it's discouraging when I can't accomplish the task I thought I could do. I struggle because I know I was created in God's image and therefore have the potential to become perfect, I'm just not very patient with the process. In a lot of ways I'm not a perfectionist, but with the aspect of self improvement, I am. I think I should be prefect like yesterday! Another thing this taught me is that being perfect in the Christlike way doesn't mean you have to be perfect at everything.  We're still different. A perfect corolla still can't tow a motor home. Again, not because anything is wrong with it, but because it's not what it was designed to do.
I think it's so great we all have talents that work together that make the world go round. I'm especially grateful for this in my realtionship with Clint. Where I lack, he is strong, and where he lacks, I am strong. Together we can become perfect.

You have talents. Be grateful for them!
What were you deisgned to do?

Great thoughts!

p.s. the word verification is "soommi," which naturally made me think of "sue me." And I would really prefer you didn't.
