"Of things that matter most"

The inspiration for this blog comes from this talk by Elder Ucthdorf in last session's general conference.

We live in a crazy world today! And by crazy, I mean busy. Well, crazy too. But right now, I'm talking about the busy part of it. Our to-do lists grow and grow!

Some might even think their self-worth depends on the length of their to-do list.Because they unnecissarily complicate their lives, they often feel increased frustration, diminished joy, and too little sense of meaning in their lives.

The things that matter most in life are the simple ones. In his talk he outlines the 4 vital relationships. Our relationship with God, our families, our fellowmen, and ourselves. Of course, the most important is our relationship with God. None of the other relationships should come between your relationship with God. It cannot stand still. It must be moving forward. If we are doing nothing, it disgresses. I also love what he said about our relationship with ourselves. In a previous blog I talked about the importance of seeing ourselves as God does. When we do, we live up to the potential that lies within us. I highly reccomend going back and reading it.

There is a beauty and clarity that comes from simplicity that we sometimes do not appreciate in our thurst for intricate solutions.

I think this is absolutely true. He talks about the big ordeal of creating a pen that astronauts could use in space. Their solution to get them through: a pencil. Look for the simple solutions to your problems.

Dilligently doing the things that matter most will lead us to the Savior of the world.

This is my favorite simple truth of all. Want to know what Mormons believe? We believe in Christ. We believe Christ set up his church on earth. Men changed His church. It was brought back with the help of Joseph Smith, a prophet. We believe in modern day prophets and temple ordinances, just as outlined in The Bible. I believe in Christ, so come what may.
