Momma said there'd be days like this

I'm pretty sure I've said it more than once that Ainsley is the worst sleeper I've ever met. She didn't even sleep the whole first night she was born and I'm not exaggerating. Ask my nurses. They were impressed. I wasn't so much.

Now I love this whole motherhood thing, but on days with only 3 hours of sleep and a pounding migraine, it's a little harder to love it.
Ainsley slept about four hours last night, is refusing to nap today, and has been an all around fuss pot who just wants to nurse and be held. I suspect teething may be part of the problem today.

On the days I'm running especially low on sleep, I've learned to make some adjustments. Instead of fighting it, some days you just have to give in.

Some days you wear pajamas and call it dressed and have a cry fest with your baby in the rocking chair and accept nothing will get done and watch 10 episodes of extreme couponer in a row while rocking your child in efforts to save both your ear drums and are forced to make a chick-fil-a run to make it through the day and then spend the rest of the day attempted to burn off your ridiculously high calorie lunch
And you know what?
It's better than dropping your baby off on the neighbors porch in a Moses basket and running off to Hawaii like you want to.
Today, I'm there.

Can you please tell me I'm not the only one with days like this?

Thank goodness she's so cute or the neighbors would probably be getting a surprise today.

[for the record, I still love that little sassy fuss pot]

You are so NOT alone! I promise you there are days when I put Rory in her crib to cry/scream her head off after shes already screamed at me for an hour. I also promise that "this too shall pass"!!! I know, kind of a empty promise right now but it will get better!

Has she always been a bad sleeper? My nephew was a bad sleeper and was always cranky, so my sister in law took him to the baby chiropractor. He was all out of align and literally once the chiropractor was done he was a different baby. I'd suggest looking into that! If its teething, hang in there momma! What saved me was a little bottle called "Mommy's Bliss". It's an all natural medicine that helps calm their tummies or gas or whatever is bothering them. One dose of that and my girl would be out in no time (I think it has melatonin in it). Anyway I got that at CVS. Hope something helps! :)

You are not alone! I remember my son crying alot for a little while and i would do everything trying to get him to calm down, then i would put him in his swing while he was still crying, and then i would cry, and then call my mom and cry :) Been there! Even with my second my husband was away on business and i had to call my neighbor to come hold my baby because the crying wouldn't stop, sometimes all you need is a 5 minute break. Hang in there!!

I am SOOOO sorry, Alexis! And the worst part about it is people tell you to read baby wise, or whatever baby book they swear by. I haven't read one book. I just follow Mia's cue's. And there are days where I don't even put clothes on... so if you're in pj's you are doing better than me :) And it really is okay if you don't get dressed and spend the day in front of the tv. Sometimes that's all you CAN do! My mother in law told me once that if baby is screaming in your arms, she will be just fine screaming in the crib while you take 5 minutes to shower and have some alone time. That was really hard for me to be okay with, but now I understand how important those 5 minutes are to regain some sanity and patience for my sweet baby.
I don't totally understand what you're going through because nursing is not what Mia turns to for comfort. She'd rather sleep than eat, any day! But that's been my struggle, feeding my baby. But I'm praying for you and Ainsley!!

Sorry I am no help, but I wanted to say that you take such cute pictures of Ainsley! I am terrible at taking pictures, I will need to call you when I have kids!

So sorry girl. Ellie isn't even that bad of a sleeper and I've still had moments like that. Luckily those moments have usually been when other people were around so I could just pass her off for a few minutes. Like a few days ago when I had a breakdown in the middle of the night and had to wake up Tim and put a pillow over my head for a few minutes. It's crazy, this motherhood stuff - it really is "the best of times" and "the worst of times." The highest of highs and the lowest of lows. You'll be in my prayers!
